1810

START OF THE PEUGEOT

INDUSTRIAL ADVENTURE

 

Specialising in the production of steel parts and objects, the family business gradually became interested in the automobile, until 1896, when Armand PEUGEOT created the Société Anonyme des Automobiles PEUGEOT. 

1889

STEAM TRICYCLE:

FIRST PEUGEOT VEHICLE 

 

At the Paris Universal Exhibition, Armand PEUGEOT presented the first motor vehicle bearing the name PEUGEOT: a steam tricycle (not marketed), built with the engineer Léon Serpollet.

1948

PEUGEOT 203:

FIRST MONOCOQUE CAR

 

The first car produced after the war, the PEUGEOT 203 was the first monocoque model with an engine featuring a hemispherical cylinder head and V-valves and was produced in more than 1/2 million units.

1961

PEUGEOT 404:

FIRST DIRECT INJECTION ENGINE

 

Designed by Pininfarina, the 404 brought modernism and elegance with its angular lines and an increased glazed area. In 1961, the 404 was equipped with the first direct injection engine.

1968

PEUGEOT 504:

A RADICALLY NEW STYLE

 

Voted Car of the Year in 1969 in Europe, the 504 had the longest career of any PEUGEOT model, with 3,700,000 units put on the road up to 2006. 

1972

PEUGEOT 104:

SHORTEST SALOON IN THE WORLD

 

The slogan "Everything PEUGEOT in 3.58 m", recalls the fact that it was the smallest four-door saloon in the world.

1979

PEUGEOT 604: 1ST 6-CYLINDER

PEUGEOT SALOON SINCE 601

 

With its style and stature, it was adopted by the highest authorities of the State. The 604 was equipped with the first diesel engine marketed in Europe.

1983

PEUGEOT 205:

THE SACRED NUMBER

 

It is the French car the most exported and sold in France. It became a two-time world rally champion and won two Paris-Dakars. 

1987

PEUGEOT 405:

FAMILY MODEL

 

For the second time in its history, PEUGEOT won the European Car of the Year award with the 405 in 1988.

1997

PEUGEOT 406:

COUPÉ MADE BY PININFARINA

 

The first coupé to be offered with a diesel engine in 2001, it has become a collector's item thanks to its timeless design.

1998

PEUGEOT 206: PRODUCED

IN MORE THAN 7M UNITS

 

Three times world rally champion, its CC version revived the fashion for "coupé-convertibles" in 2000, initiated by PEUGEOT in 1934.

2016

PEUGEOT 3008:

FIRST SUV

 

The 3008 was the first SUV to win the award since the Car of the Year trophy was created and the fifth PEUGEOT to be voted Car of the Year.

2020

PEUGEOT 208:

CAR OF THE YEAR 2020

 

The PEUGEOT 208 was the first electric car (new generation) and the 6th PEUGEOT to be named Car of the Year. PEUGEOT thus became one of the top three most successful brands in the award.

Both in the history of the brand and in the automotive market, the new 408 underlines the inventiveness of its designers by offering a unique Fastback silhouette.

PEUGEOT TYPE 13: FIRST COMMERCIAL VEHICLE

 

With a “delivery omnibus” body and offering a payload of 500 kg, the PEUGEOT Type 13 stands out as the first in a long line of commercial vehicles.

1922

PEUGEOT 163: INSPIRED BY PRIVATE CARS

 

The little 163 was available in several versions: From farm pick-ups to vans.

1938,

PEUGEOT SERIES 2-3- 4: ICONIC AS FAR AS AFRICA

 

Available in several different versions, these canvas-topped vans crossed the French countryside and the Mediterranean Sea to the African continent. 

1950,

PEUGEOT D3A:  FIRST FRONT-WHEEL DRIVE PANEL VAN

 

A version that evolved into different models: D4, J7 and J9

1980,

PEUGEOT J5: COLLABORATION  BETWEEN PSA & FIAT

 

The two manufacturers got together to produce J5 vans, replaced in 1994 by the PEUGEOT Boxer, which is still available today.

1996,

PEUGEOT PARTNER: SMALL VAN

 

Launch of small Partner van, then Bipper in 2007, which were also offered in passenger versions.

2016,

PEUGEOT EXPERT:  ROBUST AND FUNCTIONAL

 

The Expert is available in many versions: van, floor cab, extended cab and Combi with up to 9 seats. In 2020, the Expert was offered for the first time in an electric version.

2019

PARTNER: VOTED VAN OF THE YEAR

 

Fifth PEUGEOT commercial vehicle to be awarded the trophy since its creation in 1992. The Partner was offered in an electric version in 2021.

INTRODUCTION OF BICYCLES AND

TRICYCLES IN SERIES PRODUCTION

 

Under the impetus of Armand PEUGEOT and after testing on the Grand Bi, PEUGEOT launched chain-driven bicycles and tricycles in series production.

1901,

FIRST PEUGEOT

MOTORCYCLE 198cc

 

After the launch in 1898 of motorised tricycles, PEUGEOT presented its first 198cc motorbike PEUGEOT 1.5 hp.

1934,  

LAUNCH OF 500, 350, 175

AND 100CC MOTORBIKES

 

In 1934, the P515 (495cc) broke 9 international records, including 3,000 km travelled at an average speed of 118 km/h.

From 1901 to 1939, PEUGEOT presented 61 models from 100 to 750 cc.

1952, 

VICTORY AT THE BOL D'OR

AND LE MANS DE LA MOTO P176

 

The range of PEUGEOT mopeds and motorcycles now extends from 100 to 250 cc. PEUGEOT motorcycles were already distinguishing themselves in competition.

1955-1956, 

S55 and S57 SCOOTERS:

INSPIRED BY THE 203

 

PEUGEOT starts production of S55 and S57 scooters recalling the shape of the PEUGEOT 203.

1974, 

PEUGEOT 103 AND 104:

BIRTH OF TWO LEGENDS

 

A pioneer since 1949, PEUGEOT set a record for sales of 50cc mopeds with its 103 &nd 104 models.

1982,

PEUGEOT SC AND SX:

NEW STYLE

 

The scooter trend is back and plastic is more than trendy.

On this occasion, PEUGEOT launched the SC and SX series, the first scooters with plastic bodywork.

1983,

PEUGEOT PY10FC:

FIRST CARBON BIKE

 

The PY10FC revolutionises the racing bike with a carbon frame. It will be appreciated by "pros" and amateurs alike.

1984

FIRST MOUNTAIN BIKE

IN FRANCE BY PEUGEOT

 

At the forefront of customer desires, PEUGEOT brought out the first Mountain Bike to be sold in France.

1992, 

ASSOCIATION

WITH CYCLEUROPE

 

Manufacture and sales were entrusted to Cycleurope who took over ownership of all production facilities.

2006,

PEUGEOT SATELIS:

FIRST 125 cc SCOOTER

 

Following on from the success of the Elystar, the first 125 scooter fitted with ABS as standard, PEUGEOT introduced Satelis and Géopolis, urban GT scooters inspired by the automotive world.

2009,

PEUGEOT A2B:

FIRST EAB

 

As part of a global mobility concept, PEUGEOT launched its first electrically assisted bicycle (EAB). 

2015, 

MAHINDRA:

THE NEW PLAYER

 

51% of PEUGEOT Scooters was sold to the Indian manufacturer, while retaining 49% of the capital and the use of the brand image. 

2016,

DJANGO ADVENTURE,

60 YEARS ON!

 

On the Django, two adventurers managed to reach Ho Chi Minh City from Paris. This adventure was a homage to Serge Gracium and Michel Vaslin who in 1956 made the journey in the other direction on a PEUGEOT S57.

2017, 

PEUGEOT E-KICK EF01:

INNOVATIVE MOBILITY SOLUTIONS

 

PEUGEOT became the first automobile manufacturer to offer unique solutions: the e-Kick electric scooter and eF01 folding electric bike.

2023

PEUGEOT e-STREETZONE:

ELECTRIC VERSION

 

Going on sale in 2023, the e-STREETZONE benefits from the 10-year proven reliability of its combustion-engined counterpart with greater freedom of movement.
