Les aides et équipements Peugeot dédiés à la sécurité
This function is specially suited to motorway driving in semi-dense or flowing traffic, by preventing the regulator systematically disconnecting each time a vehicle gets too close in front. In fact, as soon as the radar detects a vehicle, it maintains a constant gap by automatically reducing your speed by up to 20 km/h, thanks to the engine brake acting on the accelerator. When the lane clears, the regulator resumes the speed you originally requested. If deceleration of 20 km/h is not enough to maintain the gap, the cruise control alerts you and returns speed control to you.
The vehicle is equipped with a radar in the front bumper centre, with a maximum range of 150 metres. Between 30 km/h and 180 km/h, the Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop function (ACC Stop) has two functions:
- Automatically maintaining your speed at the value programmed by you
- Automatically adjusting your distance from the vehicle in front (3 predefined levels: far, normal and near)
This system detects a vehicle travelling in front of you in the same direction of travel. It automatically adapts the vehicle’s speed to that of the vehicle in front, using the engine brake and the braking system (the brake lights then come on), to maintain a constant distance until the vehicle comes to a complete stop
With its thumbwheel on the centre console, Grip Control extends the range of use with adapted traction in low grip conditions. This patented system works in conjunction with a specially adapted pneumatic lift.
Versatile and flexible, Grip Control optimises traction by acting on the front wheels according to the terrain. The system keeps you in control at all times. You can rely on this equipment’s intelligence at all times with the Standard mode, or select the desired mode using the thumbwheel:
- Standard mode is intended for normal road conditions with a low skid rate.
- Snow mode instantly adapts the wheel slip of each of the front wheels to the grip conditions encountered. As soon as your speed reaches 50 km/h, the system switches to Standard mode.
- The All-Way mode allows you to move serenely on slippery ground (mud, wet grass, etc.). In these particular conditions, it ensures that your vehicle starts by transferring the maximum possible torque to the adherent wheel. Acting as a Limited Slip Differential (LSD), it is particularly suitable for use on roads and is active up to 80 km/h.
- Sand mode keeps both drive wheels spinning at the same time, allowing you to move over soft ground and reduce the risk of silting. This mode is functional up to 120 km/h and then switches to Standard mode.
- ESP Off mode allows you to fully disconnect ESP and Grip Control, up to 50 km/h, and to manage driveability with total autonomy.
The Advanced Grip Control enhanced traction system is equipped with the following features:
- Optimised traction control with five grip modes (Normal, Snow, Mud, Sand, ESP Off) controlled by a thumbwheel on the centre console
- Specific pneumatic lift of 18'' M+S (Mud & Snow)
- Hill Assist Descent Control (HADC) is a new function allowing you to control the vehicle and its trajectory perfectly and safely on steep slopes. The innovative system keeps the vehicle at a very low speed (3 km/h), providing control and safety in situations that can cause anxiety.
Push on the centre console to activate this function for speeds below 70 km/h. Below 30 km/h, the system becomes active. If the slope is gentle or if there is no difficulty, you can release the accelerator and brake pedals. If the gearbox is engaged in first or second gear, the speed is regulated. The HADC function can be activated by shifting to neutral for a steep slope and/or with difficulty in moving. The descending speed is lower to improve safety.
The HADC function adapts to the slope:
- between 5 and 8%, the function converges towards a speed of 17 km/h
- above 8%, the function regulates the speed between 3 and 17 km/h.
The Active Safety Brake intervenes after the warning if you don’t react quickly enough and don’t brake. Thus it helps avoid a collision or limits its severity by reducing the vehicle’s speed, without your action. The system takes into account registered vehicles driving in the same direction or at a standstill, as well as pedestrians there (cycles, motorbikes, animals and objects on the road are not detected). The Active Safety Brake works if:
- Your speed is between 5 and 140 km/h when a moving vehicle is detected
- Your speed is below 80 km/h when a stationary vehicle is detected
- Your speed must be under 60 km/h when a pedestrian is detected
This system works in conjunction with the Active Lane Departure Warning: in addition to the fixed indicator light in the rear-view mirror on the relevant side, a lane correction will be felt if a line is crossed with the direction indicator light activated, to help you avoid a collision.
