New PEUGEOT E-408: attractive from every angle, 100% electric

With the unveiling of the new 408 back in June 2022, PEUGEOT has since brought the allure of a fastback silhouette that's unprecedented in its segment.

Unexpected because it is different, the 408 is distinguished by its feline stance and dynamic lines, that also offer a raised driving position.

Like all 408s destined for the European market, the new PEUGEOT E-408 will be produced exclusively at the Mulhouse plant, and benefits from the ALLURE CARE program with coverage of up to 8 years/100,000 miles(i) Peugeot Allure Care is subject to T&Cs. Full T&Cs available here. https://www.peugeot.co.uk/content/dam/peugeot/uk/b2c/pdfs/allure_care_uk_terms.pdf  .

Thanks to its aerodynamic design, the new E-408 offers a range of up to 281 miles WLTP(i) The fuel consumption or electric range achieved, and CO2 produced (where applicable), in real world conditions will depend upon a number of factors including, but not limited to: the accessories fitted (pre and post registration); the starting charge of the battery; variations in weather; driving styles and vehicle load. The E-408 is a battery electric vehicle requiring mains electricity for charging. The WLTP (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure) is used to measure fuel consumption, electric range and CO2 figures. Figures shown are for comparison purposes and should only be compared to the fuel consumption, electric range and CO2 values of other cars tested to the same technical standard. Official Fuel Consumption in MPG (l/100km) and CO2 emissions (g/km) for the E-408 range are: Combined N/A (N/A) and CO2 0g/km. Equivalent All Electric Range: 281 miles.  , meeting the expectations of motorists in this segment, who travel an average of less than 30 miles a day.

ALLURE: AN UNEXPECTEDLY DYNAMIC FASTBACK DESIGN

With an overall length of 4.69 m and a width of 1.859 m (mirrors folded), the new PEUGEOT E-408 uses the E-EMP2 (Efficient Modular Platform) multi-energy platform, which stands out for the length of its wheelbase, at 2.787 m.

This generous amount of space means that the battery can be installed under the floor between the wheels, while preserving all the space in the passenger compartment and lowering the vehicle's centre of gravity. The architecture combines the dynamic elegance of a fastback with roadholding worthy of the best saloon cars, and a slightly raised driving position that enhances everyday driving pleasure, safety and comfort.

The new PEUGEOT E-408 is designed as a top-of-the-range C-segment fastback. It offers a wealth of equipment designed to help you enjoy the pleasures of travel and mobility to the fullest. Inside the new E-408, you'll find the ambient LED lighting (choice of 8 colours) located behind the central screen diffuses a soft light and contributes to the sophisticated ambience of the cabin. The same light is carried through to the foamed door panels, that are clad in fabric, Alcantara® or genuine pressed aluminium, depending on the trim level.

The thermal and acoustic comfort of the new PEUGEOT E-408 is optimized by the technologies used in the design and manufacture of its windows, that are 3.85 mm thicker than average, and laminated side windows (3.96 mm on GT) for improved sound insulation and enhanced safety.

EXCELLENCE: A CONSTANT QUEST FOR EFFICIENCY, SAFETY AND QUALITY

Efficiency was at the heart of the PEUGEOT teams' concerns throughout the design and development of the E-408. Particular attention has been paid to the aerodynamics of the new PEUGEOT E-408 (SCx: 0.66). All the bodywork components have been optimised, including the bumper, boot lid, diffuser, body pillars and rear-view mirrors.

The E-408 also features a special underbody that forms an aerodynamic flat-bottom design for low electricity consumption of 15.1 kWh/100 km (WLTP combined cycle), giving a range of 281 Miles in the combined cycle. The new E-408 is fitted with a high-voltage battery with a capacity of 58.2 kWh. Using NMC 811 technology - 80% Nickel, 10% Manganese, 10% Cobalt - it boasts increased energy density with 18 on-board modules.

PEUGEOT'S ELECTRIC RANGE: EFFICIENT BY NATURE:

On a 100% electric vehicle, it's not just battery capacity that determines range. Efficiency is just as important. How do you maximize it? With a good SCx (the mathematical product of the vehicle's frontal area and its aerodynamic drag coefficient). The lower it is, the less resistance a car will put up to the air and the less fuel it will consume. The PEUGEOT electric range is a good example of this. Each model offers one of the best range to battery capacity ratios.

Here are a few examples (based on the WLTP cycle):

  • The new E-408 offers 281 miles for 58 kWh (7.8 km/kWh)
  • The new E-3008 offers 435 miles for 98 kWh (7.1 km/kWh)
  • The new E-5008 offers 312 miles for 98 kWh (6.8 km/kWh)
  • The E-308 offers 258 miles for 51 kWh (8.15 km/kWh)
  • The E-208 offers 254 miles for 48.1 kWh (8.52 km/kWh)
