THE EMOTION BEHIND THE LION

Neuroscientists have long studied what happens in our brain when we look at a work of art. Our brain's response is surprising – it secretes dopamine, the same hormone as when we fall in love! One particular study, conducted by neurobiologists in London in 2012, examined volunteers as they contemplated works of art by great masters. It showed irrefutably how much art stimulates our intimate and deep emotions. However, painting, theatre and music – considered to be noble arts – are not the only beautiful things that can get our emotions flowing. Art can be found everywhere, if you're looking for it.

Freedom
The car has always been a symbol of freedom. At first, of course, it was simply about ease of travel, but when road trips became common in the 1960s – and then widely romanticised in TV, film and literature – the car became a vehicle of unlimited imagination and adventure. 
THE DESIRE
Rarely has an object aroused so much passion. Born of our desire to conquer the world by road, this now robotic species, which reacts and obeys at the drop of a hat, offers us an intoxicating sensation on which we have all become dependent. As early as 1907, the famous French writer and journalist Octave Mirbeau was not mistaken when he wrote: "Any journey by car is first and foremost a journey within oneself."

Emotional attachment and aesthetics
According to a survey carried out in 2020 by the ELABE polling institute, 6 out of 10 drivers feel attached to their car, and 8 out of 10 young people (77% of 18-25 year olds, 76% of 25-34 year olds). 5 out of 10 see it as a way of expressing their personality. 80% of users believe that manufacturers attach more importance to the design of their cars than before. And 74% of drivers think that today's cars are more beautiful than those of 10 years ago. In terms of design, three quarters of those surveyed said they were aware of the shape of a car, 46% of its colour and 40% of its dashboard, with young people paying particular attention to the seats, digital screens and the design of the grille.

The other countries (Japan at 29%, the United States at 26%, the United Kingdom at 19%, South Korea at 13%, Sweden at 10% and China at 7%) are far behind this top three.
