PLUG-IN HYBRID: BENEFITS & HOW IT WORKS
The advantages of the 100% electric mode of plug-in hybrids
zero engine noise
zero gear changes
zero engine vibration
zero CO2 emissions when driving
HOW DO PEUGEOT PLUG-IN HYBRID VEHICLES WORK?
EMP2 PLATFORM
ADVANTAGES OF THE PLUG-IN HYBRID ENGINE
Combination of an electric motor & petrol engine
OPTIMAL AND IMPERCEPTIBLE TRANSITIONS
To alternate between electric and combustion engines, the torque converter of the combustion engine versions is replaced by a wet multi-plate clutch to provide 60 Nm more torque and more responsiveness.
ELECTRIFIED REAR AXLE
On the HYBRID4 version, the multi-link rear axle is equipped with a 110 hp/83 kW electric motor to provide 4-wheel drive, without impacting on passenger space.
PETROL COMBUSTION ENGINE
The 1.6 PureTech engine has been adapted, with an alternator-starter and a specific cooling front panel. It produces 180 hp on HYBRID and 200 hp on HYBRID4.
NEW ELECTRIC AUTOMATIC GEARBOX
The PureTech engine is paired with the new 8-speed e-EAT8 automatic gearbox. Combined with the gearbox, an electric motor produces 110 hp/81 kW on the front axle.
PLUG-IN HYBRID VEHICLE BATTERY
LITHIUM-ION TYPE
These batteries come with an 8-year or 100,000 mile warrantyFor customers who have subscribed to a service contract, a certificate attesting to the level of battery charging performance may be made available after each periodic overhaul of the vehicle. This certificate, when reselling the vehicle, will be a guarantee of battery performance for the new owner .
In order to optimise CO2 consumption as much as possible, use 100% electric driving for urban journeys, reaching speeds up to 83 mph. Regular charging ensures you can enjoy electric mode anytime.
Charge your vehicle every day so that you can enjoy 100% electric mode at any time!
ENRICHED DRIVING
For renewed pleasure
The driver can choose to activate a new Brake function that allows the vehicle to actively decelerate by lifting the accelerator. It also allows the battery to be recharged, such as when travelling downhill. In Drive mode, a single rearward pull on the gearbox selector activates Brake mode.
4 DRIVING MODES
- Electric: default mode, make the most of all the benefits of an electric vehicle.
- Hybrid: allows you to drive both on electric and internal combustion engines, depending on your driving style and the type of road you are driving on.
- Sport: enjoy maximum engine torque performance with the combination of both energies.
- Comfort: combines hybrid mode with the comfort of active suspension to ensure better road grip, while maintaining optimum comfort.
With the e-SAVE function, the driver can set aside a reserve of electrical energy to be used when desired. This function can, for example, keep a reserve of electrical energy in anticipation of a restricted emissions area.
Accessible from the e-SAVE menu on the touchscreen, simply select Zero Emission mode on the driving mode selector for 100% electric driving.
PEUGEOT i-COCKPIT®
The PEUGEOT i-Cockpit® incorporates driving information in the driver’s field of vision. It is fully customisable and configurable.
A power meter to the right of the digital instrument panel is made up of 3 zones:
- ECO for energy-efficient driving
- POWER for more dynamic driving
- CHARGE for energy recovery phases
There are two gauges on either side of the instrument panel: one for fuel, the other for electric. The available range, in miles, is indicated below these gauges.
The PureTech engine is paired with the new 8-speed e-EAT8 automatic gearbox. Combined with the gearbox, an electric motor produces 100 hp/80 kW on the front axle.
